Stuff of Winter

The days are getting longer, and so are the nights lately. Pip sleeps whenever it suits her and this past week the early hours of the morning have suited her the best. This means that Bug and I are sleeping in turns- one night on and one night off. It works well. Tua has been getting the best rest of everyone. She has a noise machine next to her bed. She dials up the 'ocean' setting, cranks the volume and sleeps through everything.
The following shots were taken last night.... Tua was eating peanut butter straight from the jar.
And Pippa, well she was doing her best Muhammed Ali impression.

Drawing Nigh

Tua and Pip made their forst joint appearance this evening. It was hearwarming- but only for about 3 seconds or so and then both wanted to be somewhere else.

Tuesday Happenings

Despite having only secured an estimated five hours of sleep last night, Tua managed to have a banner Tuesday. She was bested only twice by her sister and that was for the amount of time she got to spend with Gigi as well as for the least amount of fuss. Pippa took home the gold on both accounts.

more pip

Gigi is in town and the girls are each getting a healthy dose of attention. As I write this, Pippa is being rocked to sleep in Gigi's arms as Bug and I take a moment to catch up with paperwork etc.

These photos are from today. Pippa seems to look less and less like either of her parents every day.

Bath Time

We marked a milestone tonight. Pippa was given her first tub sanctioned 'bath' and everyone helped. Tua was interested mostly in dunking her toothbrush into the bathwater. What fun!

a tale of two cakes

Tua's big day has come and gone. The 2nd birthday party was quite the event. We spent the previous night baking up a storm and as a result had more than enough choices for birthday cake. I think I even recall an apple pie making a brief appearance. In the end, chocolate won out big time. At 5:00, the cakes came out of their hiding place and despite not having had any dinner, Tua wanted a piece of cake one, a cake I called Slow Death By Chocolate.

We didn't even have time to give her a fork.

A few of the party-goers, below grandpa keeping Pippa at bay.
Nonna brought along a few balloons, which proved to be the most exciting part of the evening.

The second cake (the official candled birthday cake) came out at 7:30. The chorus gave her a bit of a start.....

....and reduced her to tears....
Seconds later, the tears yeild to curiosity.

She bounced back and in the best of form, proceeded to blow out her own candles....notice the prevailing wind coming from her direction and not her dads.

A second slice.....before
and after.

The morning after, the balloons are still a hit.
